The Summer Institute Crew of 2006 #

Participants in this year’s Summer Institute worked very hard this year and produced some amazing writing, workshops and connections with each other.
Here they are, looking happy, at UMass.

Days in the Life of a Summer Institute #

Each day of the 2006 WMWP Invitational Summer Institute is captured in writing by the institute’s participants. Composed by a different participant each day, “A Day in the Life”  details the coming, going, writing, presenting (and eating!) of the SI.  “A Day in the Life” is shared with the National Writing Project eAnthology and read by other Summer Institute Participants from around the country.  Read a sampling of “A Day in the Life Below” and watch for more “Day(s)” in the days to come.

Day 1 by Lily Newman
Day 3 by Lauren Mattone
Day 4 by Kevin Brown
Day 5 by Ellen Lowell
Day 8 by Michael Braidman

Summer Institute Photos and Movie! #

The WMWP 2006 Invitational Summer Institute is in full swing on the UMass-Amherst campus. Click here to see a slide show of photos from the SI.  Photos will be added throughout the institute, so be sure to check back!

So just what happens on a WMWP Writing Marathon?
You can see for yourself by viewing the short documentary movie as the
camera followed around some of this year’s dedicated and talented
writer-teachers as they found inspiration for their words and support
for each other on the campus of UMass and surrounding communities.
